Used Nissan Silvia

The Nissan Silvia is one of those import tuner cars that racing enthusiasts love to have and customize. It has that “just right” feeling that you experience once you get to sit behind the wheel and take it for a spin. It is also one of Nissan’s long running line of sport coupes that were built on the S platform. The Silvia was created with a lot of versions and revisions. The latest version was the S15, which was unveiled in 1999, instantly becoming a favorite tuner machine for the racetrack due to its natural form and capability for racecar performance. The S15 boasts 250 hp coming from its SR20DET engine. This was only made possible by reason of a ball bearing turbocharger upgrade and the improvement of engine management. The SR20DE non-turbo motor was only capable of only 165 hp of power. Looking at the Silvia, it can immediately be seen that this particular car has been immensely and aggressively designed for the track. Inside and outside, the car oozes with racing performance, keeping in line with the fast modernization of car design trends. Initially, the S15 model was simplified to just include the Spec-S (non-turbo) and Spec-R (turbo). Both of these models featured an Aero variation, which had a bigger rear wing and wider side skirts. These body kits were only available through fabrication and customization, which added to its appeal. Nissan also came up with a Spec R version of the Silvia. This model featured a 6-speed manual transmission, to which car and racing enthusiasts instantly fell in love with. Its chassis was extended and the suspension was strengthened with the inclusion of larger anti-roll bars and bracings. Also, the Spec R version had the same 4-piston brake calipers, which are available on the S14, except that the Spec R had a larger brake booster device. Of all the changes that were made to the S15 model, the inclusion of a helical limited slip differential that was similar to that unit used with the Nissan 350Z was the most significant. As a result, a more race-like driving performance was produced by the S15. This placed the car in the limelight as a speed performance machine and was greatly publicized by the media. One very remarkable feature of the S15, as well as with the other used Nissan performance cars, was that a four-wheel steering system was available. Other versions of the S15 included a Spec S variation, which is basically the same as the Spec R version, except that it only had a five-speed manual transmission, except of the more powerful – and desirable six-speed transmission.
